If you’ve thought about working with people in their homes who don’t want to go to a nursing home or another type of medical facility, then consider a career as a home health aide. You’ll go to your client’s home to perform many of the duties that you would perform in a medical facility as a nursing assistant but in what’s often considered an environment that’s more comfortable. Here are a few common responsibilities.

Housekeeping

While working as a home care aide in Delaware County, you might have to perform light housekeeping duties. If the person lives alone, then you could find that you’ll be asked to do more during the day. Some of these duties include sweeping, mopping, laundry, and washing the dishes. You’ll be able to talk to the client and family members about the tasks that the person needs help with so that you can make a schedule.

Transportation

As a home care aide in Delaware County, you could be responsible for taking your client to appointments that they have with their doctor, with a hair salon, or with other providers in the community. You could also be responsible for taking the person to the grocery store or to businesses so that they can pay their bills. Sometimes, you might have to run errands if the person is unable to get out of the house.

Companionship

Talking with your client is one of the most important responsibilities that you’ll likely have. Many people who are at a time when they need additional care have a desire to talk with someone as it helps their day pass by and helps give them comfort.
